Anyone can search LibrarySearch and MIDCAT, whether on or off campus.  However most of the online content is provided by vendors through subscriptions, and they restrict remote, off-campus access to current Middlebury students, faculty, and staff, (which does not include alumni). LibrarySearch and MIDCAT do include some open-access content that anyone can get to for free. Also, when the library is open to the public, alumni and other users can come to the library in person to get access to most subscription resources not accessible remotely. Alumni not in the area should check with academic and public libraries in their area to see what access they provide to the public.

That said, the Library purchases alumni access for subscription databases when available.  The Library provides alumni access to JSTOR and Project Muse.  Access is via a separate alumni account.  Setting that account up is explained on this page:
